A successful [or busy, if you prefer] graphic designer who studied Fine Arts, Art Education and Anthropology at Tufts University, Mass. College of Art and The Museum January 21, 2009School, Marie has been an avid collector of indigenous art, jewelry and sartifacts for many years. Native offers pottery, jewelry, textiles, masks, accessories and artifacts from diverse tribes and cultures, including the American Southwest, Mexico, India, Africa, Nepal, Thailand, South America and New Guinea. Marie imports these handmade, often one-of-a-kind, items directly from these countries, working with co-ops and fair trade organizations, as well as many individual artisans she has come to know personally during her travels sover the years.
The shop has become a popular destination for both serious collectors and seekers of unique gifts from all over New England – all of whom appreciate the authenticity of Native’s unique gifts, and Marie’s knowledge about each item’s origin, artisan and/or symbolism in its native culture.
We invite you to visit – and to stop by often, since exciting new treasures arrive every week!
“When I need a gift, Native is always my first – and often only – stop, and it’s the one place I always take my out-of-town guests, too. Marie has such an eclectic selection oftruly original, very affordable gifts. I love the informational tags she’s made up for most things in the shop, and the funky way she wraps every gift.” Nancy Young, Scituate
